| Cebu, PHILIPPINES (Jan. 30, 2008) - The International Academy of Film and Television (IAFT) will turn up your passion for the arts this February as it launches a new and packed roster of workshops for Filmmaking and Acting lovers of every age. In true IAFT form, industry professionals from film capitals across the globe will mentor these special short-term courses.
IAFT's February line-up of workshops will launch with the movement-enhancing, revolutionary exercise technique that's taking the world by storm, ' Pilates,' all set for Feb. 4, 11, 18, and 25. On Feb. 15-17, the 'Dance Workshop for Teens' will take you into a world where classic techniques and modern music merge. Another workshop on movement, the 'Choreographic Technique', happens on Feb. 25-29. The 'Choreographic Technique' is an intensive class that will delve into the craft of Dancing using the approach and composition behind the choreographic process.
'Pilates,' the 'Dance Workshop for Teens,' and the 'Choreographic Technique' will be mentored by British Choreographer and Dancer John-Mark Slade, who graduated Laban, London in 2005 with a First Class Honors Degree in Dance Theatre. To name another of Slade's many credits, he has had a long-running stint as a Dance Model for The Camera Club, one of the world's oldest and most distinguished photographic societies.
For those who are enthusiastic on the technical aspects of filmmaking are the 'Nonlinear Editing,' 'HD Cinematography' and 'Sound Design' workshops.
Set on Feb. 8-11, the ' Nonlinear Editing ' workshop will impart the fundamentals of editing while, on Feb. 16-17 , the 'HD Cinematography' workshop will teach you how to go Hi-Def. For those who want to know the dos and don'ts of audio, the 'Sound Design' workshop slated for Feb. 16-18 is ideal.
IAFT enriches your imagination and brings your ideas forth with the 'Advance Screenwriting' workshop, taking place on Feb. 23-25. Under the guidance of Zachary Kaplan, the 'Advance Screenwriting' workshop will teach you to turn your stories into awesome screenplays. Kaplan received a Master's Degree in Screenwriting from one of the top universities in the US and has, since then, written screenplays for some of Hollywood's biggest production companies.
On Feb. 23-25, take a leap from casual hobbyist to certified shutterbug with the 'Digital Photography' workshop, to be mentored by the accomplished Ted Madamba, Jr.
Madamba has reaped illustrious awards from various photo competitions, and his continuous search for new and captivating images has brought him to many exotic locations throughout Asia and North America.
IAFT also offers specially tailored short-term courses for instructors, first off with the 'Teacher Development in Acting' - set on Feb. 8-10. Under the tutelage of Dan Shor, this workshop will teach you to convey the latest dramatic techniques to your students.
Shor has thirty years of professional acting experience that include lead performances in Air Force One (1997), Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989), and the TV film The Blue and the Gray (1982), for which he won a Peoples Choice Award.
Another great opportunity for instructors is the 'Teacher Development Program in Stage Directing' scheduled on Feb. 14-16. Lawrence Espinosa, IAFT's Program Director for Acting and a veteran Theatre Arts, Speech and Drama Teacher and Theatre Director will mentor 'Teacher Development Program in Stage Directing'.
As Theatre Director, Espinosa has managed all artistic components of many theatre productions namely, the October 1992 Asian Cultural Presentation of the Philippines in the different countries in Southeast Asia. Espinosa has also had terms as Theatre Director and Senior Theatre Instructor in a number of the country's most prestigious universities.
